Donald Marquis wrote a poem based on an imaginary conversation between a rat and a moth. Imaginary or not, the rat does ask some very hard questions. For example: why do moths fly into candles and other bright lights and risk being fried to death? That’s a tough question! But perhaps the answer is even more illuminating, mainly because it’s the same thing Jesus is talking about in today’s reading.
