When our kids were young the battle of the clean bedroom was one that raged ferociously in our home on a daily basis. “Toy boxes, dressers and closets… they’re all there for a reason!” I was heard to loudly proclaim on more than one occasion. Which would them send the kids scurrying back to their rooms to stuff random items into said spaces. But as most mothers do, I learned quickly that no matter how clean a room looks on the surface, it’s not really clean unless it can pass the dreaded “under the bed” test. Yes, what’s on the surface isn’t really a good indication of what’s underneath. And that’s just what we learn from today’s reading.
