Born on January 29th, 1950, Rufus McDaniel began preaching as a teenager and served the Lord faithfully in ministry throughout Ohio. He died in Dayton at the age of 90 having penned about a hundred hymns. As a new Christian, I often sang his best-known hymn but was surprised to learn that McDaniel wrote it following the untimely death of his son at 31.
